DELL XPS |
Expected to sport Ivy Bridge Core i5 or i7 CPUs
Dell may be prepping an updated version of its mid-sized XPS 15 laptop. Dell-Lab has postedpotential specs for the 15-inch XPS L521X. The blog has been fairly accurate in past Dell product information.
The screen is expected to be a 15.6-inch, 1080p display. There should be three mainboard options based on Intel's Ivy Bridge-based 2.5GHz dual-core Core i5 processor. Four variants of the 2.1GHz Core i7 quad-core mobile processors could also be available. The graphics processor will either be an embedded Intel chip or a discrete NVIDIA GeForce chip. Solid-state drives should supply up to 512GB of storage, or up to 1TB with conventional disks; a mini SSD card would allow for dual-drive systems with an SSD system drive up to 256GB as well as a slower but larger conventional drive, The PC could support up to 8GB of 1,333MHz or 1,600MHz DDR3 RAM.
Release dates weren't mentioned, although it may come soon after the Ivy Bridge chips themselves are made public, possibly as soon as late April. Dell last refreshed its regular-sized XPS 15 portables in January 2011 and put out a variant, theXPS 15z, later on that year.
